High-end meets High Street

What's the first thing that comes into your mind when someone says the word versace? Never be able to afford it, over-priced, over the top but down right fabulous? Exactly what i thought!
Well, have no worries, as H&M has just released their Versace line that's affordable believe it or not. If you're like me who craves a bargain designer item, then i would insist you get yourself down to your local H&M pronto. Well, i say the line is affordable, affordable if your in a full time job with money to spend on such items but as a cash-strapped student i'm probably not going to be buying any of the items that i love unfortunately.

Hundreds of people waiting in line...

...All for their 10-minute time slot

A cocktail dress will set you back at about £85-£150 but totally worth it! I mean, how often are you going to be able to buy a versace dress for around £85? very rarely, technically it's priceless if you have the money to buy a few of the items as it's a one off line at such an affordable price. The line has many other essential items that will keep you looking amazingly fabulous this winter season while out and about or at your Christmas parties, there's something for every occasion.

One of the fabulous dresses on offer, which happens to be my favorite.
On the opening day, Hoards of people got themselves down to their local H&M's, some even opting to camp, in order to be first in line for the 10 minute time slot, such little time to to look at the line. I know if i had been there, i definitely would have impulsed bought EVERYTHING. Resulting in me having no money (but some fabulous clothes at that) and my housemates being very angry as i'd have no money to pay bills. The webpage was even down for a staggering two days as thousands of fashionistas fled to the site in order to catch a glimpse of the line. Last i heard the line was completely sold out in 30 minutes, so that cocktail dress will just have to wait!

Louis Vuitton fashion show, Paris 2011.

Here's a look at the Louis Vuitton fashion that i previoulsy blogged about...
Marc Jacob's for Louis Vuitton

After being hooked on fashion weeek this year and the many new trends that designers are offering up for spring, Paris fashion week was by far was the best out all the Fashion weeks this Autumn/Winter. One designer that caught my eye was Louis Vuitton in particular. The show itself, was out of this world, i have never seen a show so over the top yet minimal and simple at the same time. There was no runway at the show but instead a merry go round was placed in the middle of the room (a very big room indeed) and the models were all ready sat on the horses awating their turn to get off and model the new collection. The new collection was a range of subtle pastel colours, looking ver dreamy with models wearing tiaras and looking like like they've stepped out of a a book on how to be a lady and looking as if the designer, whom is Marc Jacobs a renowned designer in the fashion world who is one of my favourite designers, has taken inspiration from the 60s with flowing skirts and buttoned up floral shirts. The show looked like something out of a fairy tale, what i would have given to have been there.

Winter...

So unless you've been living under a rock or you've just decided to stay indoors, which i don't blame anybody for as it's freezing outside, you've probably noticed that the days are getting much darker and much more gloomier and i for one am definitely suffering from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) The thought of layering up and wearing big coats and boots, makes me shudder. However, just because it's winter, it doesn't mean that you have to be wrapped up like an eskimo, I'm not saying it's arctic weather outside and it's certainly not the scortching weather that we saw at the beginning of winter, of which i definitely took full advantage of, even if it was mid september leading into October and i was walking about campus in sandals and shorts, i completely welcomed the weather, even though i had literally just come back from a holiday in Cyprus, it was a refreshing change from the ever so dull weather that we get all year round.

Christopher Kane
Any way, back to the fashion, as i was explaining many of the new collections for the spring, which actually isn't that far away, the floral trend which has been revived over the past couple of years by mnay designers such as Oscar De La Renta and Christpher Kane is back again next season.

Oscar De La RentaI'll definitely be welcoming the floral pattern, as aztec jumpers, wolly hats and boots are certainly not my favourite fashion trends. Even now, I'm bracing the chilly days in my t-shirts and dolly shoes, and i'll probably be in them until snow forces me into my winter coat and jumpers. Here are some of the latest floral trends that are taking the runway by stor

Cardiff Fashion

Cardiff is one of the most cosmopolitan cities, aside form London, that i've been to. Its seems that it's becoming quite the fashion capital, with many of it's locals becoming becoming more fashion conscious. It's hardly surprising though, with the new St.David's shopping centre, which has introduced many new shops to Wales, which seems  to be inspiring the locals to become more focused on their fashion sense and own unique sense of style. As i walk the streets of Cardiff, I'm inspired by the many looks that pople have. Whether it's the high flying buisness woman in her designer pencil dress or a cash strapped student throwing old and new pieces together to produce an outfit. However, it's not just the women that are following fashion trends coming from New York, London and Paris, the men of cardiff all seem to be adopting the new trends that are coming in each season, like the women they are adopting their own style, to what they feel comfortable in and what they think will look good while out in public.

me + fashion

I'm hoping to try and update this blog regularly. Most of the posts will just be about my take on certain looks, different designers and some of my favorite things with fashion. Fashion is a passion of mine, hopefully one day I can have a job that's fashion related, although I couldn't imagine a working fashion as being a 'job' , it would be more like a hobby to me but getting paid. I would consider myself a fashion conscious person, leaving the house without being 100% on my outfit is definitely a no-go, If on a rare occasion my outfit isn't what i want it to be, guaranteed I will not be happy until i have changed. Sounds shallow but hey, I like to look good.

The most essential item of clothing I own is my blazer. Or should I say blazers. I have four! One In cream, one In black, one In grey and one In beige. A blazer can literally be dressed up or down and can be worn with just skinny jeans to give you a smart/casual look for the day or can be worn over a dress to give you more of a sophisticated look, sat for instance you're going out for cocktails with friends, a dress and a blazer is the perfect combo.

So my fashion tip of the day: Get a blazer.
